On January 03rd to 5th 2022, Abrar University (AU) Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdulkadir Hassan-Kadle attended the 1st One Health Conference for Horn of Africa Universities organized by Amoud University held in Borama. In this conference, there were representatives from 23 universities in the Horn of Africa, international and local non-governmental organizations, UN agencies, government and private sectors. The conference was sponsored by One Health Regional Network for the Horn of Africa (HORN) and Amoud University.
The conference aimed to showcase the current One Health implementation status, research capacity, and create a future collaborative network to facilitate partnership between researchers and institutions in the Horn of Africa region.
The AU Rector presented Somali One Health Status (Download Presentation) and took part in a group discussion on future collaborations and conceptualization to create a sustainable One Health Network for Horn of Africa Universities.
Then, the AU Rector and other Universities representatives signed the first draft Borama Declaration on One Health for Horn of Africa Regional Network, and ended the conference with a huge success.
Participation at national and international conferences is an integral part for Abrar University to foster new and maintain existing partnerships.
Finally, we would like to thank Amoud University for organizing a very successful conference on the interesting topic “One Health” and for their wonderful hospitality. Congrats!
Together we can make a positive impact on the health of human, animals, environment and plants in our region.
